Charger

The charger is generally a smallish black box,  supplied with your trolley to charge up the battery.  The charger plugs into the mains at one end with the other attaching to the battery terminals.
Most have a red light to show the battery is charging  at full voltage output (bulk charge) with a green  light to show it’s dropped to a low voltage output (float charge) and the battery is ready for use. Some chargers may also have a yellow light to indicate nearly charged.
The most common fault with a charger is when the voltage output malfunctions and causes the battery to prematurely deteriorate. This is not easy to identify as the lights on the charger normally still function.

The answer is to have your charger periodically tested (Golf Trolley Garage have the neccessary equipment), also to purchase a new charger if yours is over 4 years old.

Cleaning

You can easily clean your electric trolley yourself and we advise that you do so fairly regularly to maintain the trolley in a good condition. There are a few areas to concentrate on :
The front wheel and the build up of grass and mud lodged in the wheel housing behind the wheel and towel fibres around the axle.
The main side wheels where mud and grass collect around the wheels and across the tyres and also towel fibres around the axle.

It is advisable to not use a hose or any power washer on your trolley as water  may seep into the electrical system. Simply bucket filled with warm water and washing up liquid and a sponge with a rag or towel to dry will always produce a worthwhile result.

Sorry

Sorry for not posting any information over the past few weeks but we have been inundated with electric golf trolley problems, From  battery tests to complete overhauls.
Now to get back to normal and publish details for your information and to help you :-)

The Masters

Who do you think will win the season opening major ? Does your money go on Tiger Woods or Rory Mcilroy because they are the worlds two best golfers over a period but who is going to be on a hot streak or just got their game together at the right time, maybe Adam Scott for a defense. The course can certainly get the cream to the top...long.....undulating and of course the greens. The Masters coming on our tv's helps kick start the golf season for me if it hasn't already started for you, must be the sunny conditions (albeit not always) coupled with the blooming flowers to encourage us to get out on the course. A rusty swing and golf game normally ensues...lol unless you have been good and proper and been practicing down the range over the cold period. Brush off the cob webs and get that swing going ready for the summer proper golf when all the big tournaments happen and don't forget your electric golf trolley either.
April bring it on........

Golf Equipment

A few words on the topic of golf equipment today from the equipment that i knew and grew up with. I remember the times of wooden woods as apposed to the metal woods of nowadays, They also came with steel shafts instead of graphite shafts. Being a club Professional i remember the times that we could alter and change the characteristics of the club with a screwdriver, a file and some lead. They were great to use and you learned to shape the ball but you did have to be an accurate ball striker just like bladed irons but i miss the feel of a hit from the centre like they gave you. But with everything, technology goes with the times and normally for the better so today's clubs are easier to use for the everyday golfer which can't be bad. The distance that the ball (which has also changed significantly over the years - Balata balls....love em) can now be hit or bashed !!! does make you feel great, over 300 yards now is quite normal. But luckily the art of the short game - putting and chipping/pitching still distinguishes between the better players. Using a wedge with the versatility that a better player does....does improve scoring. no matter how long you hit the ball or some times how straight the golfer will still miss greens and then the difference between par or not is down to getting the ball in to hole in the fewest strokes from that position. A good putting stroke will never go a miss either, Particularly on the 3 ft to 10 ft range but a good long range putting stroke and feel will save you shots too. Just look at the top players of the last 70-80 years and you'll see where they good, Another good point to mention that these players too were very good at playing to their strengths especially on the course and worked on the weaknesses after. Every one has areas of their game that they don't feel comfortable with, are slightly weaker at or just plain have difficulty with and it pays to accept that you have them and try to play to your strengths.
Gonna go and get a balata Maxfli out now and spin one back from 80 yards.....simple....

Enjoy your game and let's see what the next 20-30 years are going to give us.

Social Media

Hi all,

We think Social Media is going to play an integral part of our business and how we interact with our customers and potential customers and will continue to use Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Youtube and blogs but will add others so that we become more adept at getting in touch. Mobile phones are becoming more popular for the go to tool to find businesses online whilst on the move and will probably continue to do so as phones get better and technology moves forward. We would appreciate anyone who tries to find us online and has an issue emails, comments or calls us so that we can correct any problems even though these are tested before they go live.
The way companies can be found and the way they can keep their customers informed has changed and some are still finding it difficult to adapt to keep with the times so i urge you all to go with what's around, Its not overly complicated to learn and even then these areas could be outsourced. The plus points are that you'll begin to understand and know what your customers are purchasing and saying and so in turn will alter what you do to keep those customers but more importantly increase that customer base. You will also see how diverse your customers are and that may be different to what you thought so use these tools to your benefit.

Top Tube

The top tube is attached to the bottom part of the frame by way of the hinge half way down, it connects with the hinge by rivet and has the handle attached to it at the top through screws and It also has the bag support riveted to it. Generally speaking not a lot happens to this part although the odd breakage has been known and if this does happen it does take some time to dismantle and replace because the bag support, the hinge and the handle are all attached to it.

Wiring Loom

The wiring loom or main cable takes the electrical current around your trolley, It connects the control box with the switch and /or potentiometer and is an important piece in the system to make your trolley run correctly. Do check for cuts or breakages in this wire particularly around hinged areas and places where the wire goes into or out of the frame.

Potentiometer

The potentiometer or ‘pot’ as it’s known is the switch on your electric golf trolley and can be found in the handle part of your trolley. It will be in a circuit with the wiring loom and control box to switch on/off and change the speed of your trolley and is one of the most common parts that need replacing. A faulty pot can also be the cause when your trolley is ‘stuck’ at one particular speed and the only way to stop the trolley is to disconnect the power supply, so the connection leads should just be taken out from the battery to stop it.

Clutch Bearing

The clutch bearings are located on each side of the axle almost at the end and their purpose is to allow the axle to rotate by way of the gearbox but not the other way ie forwards but not backwards. They are sometimes fixed separately and sometimes built in to the wheel. If the clutch bearing fails then you would be able to push and pull the trolley freely in both directions. If one clutch bearing fails you can have a trolley that veers to one side.

They should be kept in good working order and be kept free of grass and towelling fibres.

Weather

Rain, Rain and more Rain......when will this stop ??????
When all seems to be ok and we think we have got over the worst of the weather and drier/warmer times are here then the rain starts again.
For us golfers a complete nightmare not being able to get out or if we do whether we will need just a jumper, wet weather gear, cold weather gear for the wind or an umbrella or not depending on the wind again !!!!!
We hope you have managed to at least get out and get some fresh air.......This will take some time to clear away and be back to normal and i think this has been worse than snow which has blighted many courses the last couple of years.
Continue to watch golf on Sky with the Professionals playing in better conditions that i wouldn't mind being in right now. Onwards and upwards and now with the Masters weeks away....come on lets get the golf season started :-)

Tournaments

May be this week end will see two Nike staff players win and complete a double for European and PGA tours. Firstly well done Ross Fisher on a well deserved win and the first for a while but hopefully not too long till the next and now to see if Rory Mcilroy can complete his wire to wire victory.
